They’re Fine with the L-G-B, We Just Need to Drop the “T.” Sure, Jan 🙄
We must regroup, retool, reunite, and be clear about the new landscape we find ourselves in. Flip the script and punch back.
We Must Reshape This Dysfunctional LGBTQ+ Community & Business Landscape Before It’s Too Late!
A fragmenting community. A leadership void. Constant government propaganda. Unfounded accusations of violence. And a social media landscape that fuels animosity.
It’s time for us to break this cycle and forge a new path forward. To do so, we must first take a step back, recenter, and unify!
We are in a cycle, and it’s time for us to break it. To forge a new path forward, we must stand together in unity to reclaim our power before its too late!
I’m sure you’ve heard the term “divide and conquer.”? That’s what is happening RIGHT NOW. We hit a peak of progress, now we’re well into a steep valley, the Overton window, where Trans hate is being positioned as acceptable, even sensible. We must change course, NOW!
We once achieved the unthinkable together when we were united behind a common cause and a consistent message: equality. It wasn’t because we were some hive mind living in a fantasy world, it was because we presented a united front, striving toward a common goal. Unity is our strength, and solidarity is our survival. Our Trans siblings have always been an integral part of our community, and we must see this onslaught of hatred toward them for what it is: a dangerous attempt to fracture us.
There is still hope, albeit fleeting. No one is coming to save us. To move past this, we must return to our roots, our grassroots where we banded together neighborhood by neighborhood, state by state to drive change. Only now we’re not starting from scratch. We’re more connected, more mobile. The foundation is there, the structure is damaged but salvageable, we just have to get to work rebuilding for this new era, clear eyed about the current landscape. Bottom line:
- Our advocacy organizations are in shambles. The HRC, once a shining beacon of hope, is a dysfunctional mess, like many others.
- There are ~ 45% fewer LGBTQ+ dedicated spaces to socialize, organize, and civically engage now than at the start of the Millennium.
- Big business largely abandoned us as consumers AND donors, a double whammy, after decade of performative allyship.
We were exploited. Bamboozled. Lured into a false sense of security. Many thought it was safe to “mainstream”. Now we’re in a different fight. A fight to preserve our community. A fight to retain and win back hard fought and hard won rights.
If you think making our Trans siblings the sacrificial lamb will keep us safe, you’re sadly mistaken. Everyone would be keen to remember on any given day, 25–30% of Americans still don’t believe any of us deserve equal protection. So, once they are finished lobbing off the “T” they’ll come for the G, then the Q, the L, and the B.
How We Reclaim Our Power
This is America. Money talks. We have a collective $1.4 TRILLION in buying power. Its time we act like it and (metaphorically) kick them all as hard as we possibly can right in the profits. Grab ’em by the income and chuck them to the side like the gold diggers they are.
We do that by banding together to SHOP LGBTQ, BUY LGBTQ- a 2025 twist on shop local, buy local. Because beyond spending, LGBTQ businesses contribute in $1.7 TRILLION dollars to the economy. Because we always do it better, DESPITE the additional roadblocks. It’s easier now more than ever- we’re squarely in the digital age, accustomed to handling business virtually to deliver services, with more options than ever to deliver physical goods.
Let us come together here and now, today, a punch back by building our professional network, leveraging our economic strength, and spending that money to support on one another.
I’m launching the exclusive new LGBTQ Pro Network that anyone in the community can join for free. I’ve got the domain, I’ve got the concept, and all I want in return is people to flourish. I know this investment in our community will pay dividends for years to come.
Let me be clear, its not for ally's who slap a pride flag on their window or change their logo rainbow in June. Its a private club, by LGBTQ for LGBTQ. Tailored to small businesses, solo providers, and aspiring entrepreneurs. My vision in building this grassroots network is to help one another attract best-fit LGBTQ clients, foster mentorships, host virtual events, share educational resources, and so much more! And don’t worry there will be adequate safeguards in place to ensure the integrity of the network as its built out.
No bureaucracy. No gatekeeping. No “pay-to-play” certifications that benefit organizations more than entrepreneurs. A virtual space we can do business iwth ease.
We’re done funneling money into self-serving and out-of-touch organizations like the NGLCC that bend the knee to the makers of Bud Light after they slap our community across the face. Heh the company that signaled this cancel culture of our community is okay literally got a free pass. Our community’s dignity is worth $200,000 apparently. Oh andWells Fargo, a trillionaire bank that could weather the storm of opening millions of fake accounts but couldn’t stand by us. And we’re done donating to non-profits that lost their way years ago and squandered donations, spending less than 45% of their revenue on Programs and Advocacy when healthy firms spend 70% or greater. HRC dropped the ball in 2024 bigly then had to cut 20% of their staff in 2025. Thanks. Done. DISMISSED!
While We Ramp Up
Luckily, there is a framework for this. A way to break out of this when you seem to be on the losing end of the “tug of war” in the Overton window. I get some people may not like it and feel its defeatist. Still, desperate times call for new strategies. We’ve let the activists, academics, and actors control the narrative long enough and look where its gotten us. Even once friendly politicians have gone silent. So its time to fight to win. And that requires us to “pull the rope sideways” in order to break free.
While we build our network and turn the tide, let’s not ignore hate, nor be baited into endless conversations on largely manufactured or inflated issues hyped up by the far right propaganda machine. Just like “love is love” and “we just want the same rights and protections”… how about we stop these divisive conversation in its tracks without ignoring or feeding it:
“I have no opinion on that other than this sudden obsession with Trans people’s private lives, personal medical affairs, and genitalia is disturbing and weird.”
And if they push keep repeating “its disturbing and weird”. If they don’t stop advise they are making you uncomfortable because the conversation goes against your religious beliefs or values. Disengage. Make them think twice before bringing it up to someone else. It is weird! Its not capitulating. Its not losing. Its regrouping. Its reclaiming the narrative that has gotten away form us thanks to the aforementioned and going on to build our collective success.
I know some may want a more forceful response, I get it. We can’t keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. I firmly believe this is the best way to move on because you can’t debate a person who is brainwashed on the facts or science. These people have literally convinced themselves Trans people are the cause of mass shootings and the recent violence (while per the GVA, 2 of the 81 mass murders between 2023–2025 were committed by someone Trans, and even that debatable). Thats our starting point. At least this makes them thinks twice without adding any more oxygen to the manufactured and inflated issues.
Trans rights are human rights. The T is not silent. I stand in solidarity with you and know many others of others do too. And it is my hope this can pull us out of this ugly place so we can get out of this valley and reach the next peak of progress. Everyone please be careful of those wolves in sheep clothing. 💕
